Miss Tourism winners receive their prizes

MISS Tourism Zimbabwe 2018 pageant winner Tafadzwa Primrose Jaricha and her princesses have received their prizes at a colourful event that was graced by family members and sponsors among many others.

Jaricha for her efforts on the ramp drove away in Mercedes Benz C200 sponsored by a Zimbabwean businesswoman Dr Mercy Mafara who is based in Durban South Africa.

First Princess, Natalie Mangondo and second Princess, Life Matunzeni and Miss Personality Chido Nyika received US$5 000 each courtesy of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and they will also be attached at the authority for the duration of their reign.

The prize-giving ceremony also saw Miss Talent, Maita Kudzaishe Kainga, receiving US$2 500.

In her acceptance speech, Jaricha tribute her success to God and her family for the support adding that she never dreamt about winning the national pageant.

“Growing up in the dusty suburb of Chikanga in Mutare, I never imagined I will have this honour of representing my country.

“Being crowned Miss Manicaland only was enough for me. To emerge the overall winner out of a bevvy of beauties like these, was a dream come true,” she said.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe licence holder Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda, however, said Jaricha will, however, have to wait a little bit longer to participate at the prestigious Miss Universe.

Mpofu-Sibanda said this is because she wants to give Jaricha exposure to enhance her chances before thrusting her to the world platform.

She said this decision is a result of feedback from previous winners.

All other contestants received US$1000 each courtesy of Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya who had also provided the boot camp venue for the girls.
