Information, Media and Broadcasting Minister Jenfan Muswere has announced that Cabinet has approved the country’s participation at the Expo 2030 scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.
The Expo is expected to run from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
He said ‘’Cabinet approved the Proposal for Zimbabwe’s participation at Expo 2030 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031.
‘’Zimbabwe will participate at Expo 2030 Riyadh which will be held under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow”. The Expo theme places emphasis on long-term thinking, innovation and global collaboration in order to build a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous future.
‘’Expo 2030 Riyadh will be much bigger than the previous Expos, and will have three sub-themes, namely: “Transformational Technology”; “Sustainable Solutions”; and “Prosperous People”.
‘’Zimbabwe will participate under the “Prosperous People” sub-theme, in line with His Excellency the President’s Vision 2030,’’ said the minister.
Participation at the Expo comes at a time when the country is working on increasing visibility in promising regional and global tourism markets, as well as strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation to boost the country’s image.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube told Parliament during his Budget presentation that ‘’In 2026, government will continue to strengthen market development and diversification through deploying tourism attachés to six additional emerging markets, namely, Russia, Brazil, Canada, Nigeria, Turkey and Australia.
‘’This strategic expansion aims to broaden the country’s presence both regionally and globally, increasing visibility in these promising source markets,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the government has also indicated that it will also strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation to boost the country’s image and tourism development by adopting global best practices. Investments in market research and joint marketing initiatives for key tourism products and corridors will be upscaled.
