ENVIRONMENT, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira is in London attending the Illegal Wildlife Trade conference.
The conference which is running from the 11th to the 12th of October comes at a time when Zimbabwe has been accused of selling animals such as elephants and rhinos to China.
According to Godfrey Koti, “The Honourable Minister Prisca Mupfumira is in London for a conference on illegal wildlife trade, soon after arriving this afternoon, she met with UK’s Minister for Africa Harriett Baldwin.
“The two Ministers discussed a wide range of issues targeted at strengthening bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and the UK. They also spoke about devising ways of ending wildlife crime and improving current protection systems,” he said.
Zimbabwe is blessed with various species of wildlife but some of them such as lions, elephants, rhinos, painted dogs, pangolins and many others have been victims of poaching activities.
Animals are an important component of Africa’s tourism sector as they live in natural habitats compared to zoos in the first world.
