DUBAITourism has pledged to support Zimbabwe’s tourism through capacity building and skills development in the area of marketing and destination management.
The pledge comes following a successful engagement between Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira and Dubai Tourism director general Helal Almari on the last day of the 7th edition of the World Government Summit.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) said the meeting also discussed the possibility of Dubai participating at this year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Business Expo.
“The tourism reengagement plan got a major boost in the meeting as Dubai pledged unconditional support to the Ministry through the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. Areas of cooperation and support will include knowledge exchange, capacity building and skills development in the areas of marketing and destination management.
“The meeting also discussed the possibility of facilitation of numerous benchmarking exercise and exposure visits.
“There was also a discussion on the possibility of Dubai participating and exhibiting at Zimbabwe’s tourism business expo Sanganai/Hlanganani,” he said.
According the statement, ZTA will facilitate linkages between the Zimbabwean and Dubai tourism private sectors.
Zimbabwe is on tourism marketing drive with a view to increase arrivals in the country and has targeted various countries and events as part of the exercise.
