ZIMBABWE Tourism Authority chief operating officer Givemore Chidzidzi has been appointed the acting chief executive taking over Rita Likukuma.
According to the ZTA board, the appointment is with immediate effect and it means Likukuma who was standing in for Dr Karikoga Kaseke since February this year now reverts back to being a non-executive board member.
In a statement, ZTA deputy board chairman, Dr Precious Sibiya thanked Likukuma for stirring the ship since February and also expressed their confidence in Chidzidzi’s abilities to run things at the authority.
“Since her secondment, Rita (Likukuma) has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, and while we will miss her in the executive structures, we believe that her inspiring leadership we will continue to be valuable once again in the board.
“In the same vein, I would like to congratulate Givemore (Chidzidzi) for this appointment as the acting Chief Executive. We as the board are confident in him and the executive team at the ZTA that they will continue to restore the important contribution tourism makes to the economy,” she said.
