Artist Vimbai Zimuto says she has a lot of photographers that she works with in her art which is deemed controversial by some.

The musician made headlines following the publication of her nudes and a video to her song hapana kwaunoenda.

Some Zimbabweans feel she took it far with her art especially with the pictures. Some were also eager to know who the photographer was.

However, in an interview with Magi on Magamba TV’s Take Down, Zimuto said she works with a lot photographers but she is the one who comes up with the ideas.

“I have a lot (photographers) actually. And they are all straight and some of them are even married.

“Some of them bring their wives so there is nothing to it, its just art honestly,” she said.

Zimuto added, “Normally I tell my photographer what I want and the only thing maybe the photographer will do is to tell me you can switch this way because they are in front of me they see more than what I am seeing.

“So they will be like maybe face this way or this side, can you do this but almost everything that I do artistically I come up with the ideas.

“I bring it to the table and I suggest the things I want. Normally I just hire somebody who knows how to do these things and then I tell them what I want and then we go with the flow,” she said.

With regards to how people have reacted to her, Zimuto said at first it was a total disaster, but things have changed now as most people are now understanding and accepting her art.

“Two and half years ago when I did hapana kwaunoenda it was a culture-shock. Even if you read the comments it was bad. Hapana kwaunoenda is the one that started and then I did the pictures afterwards.

“When the pictures came out it was a disaster, she has lost her morals, she comes from a family of loose morals and Holy Ten even sang a song saying Vimbai wacho handifunge anehunhu.

“It was like that however, late 2018 into 2019 that is when people started to come about and they were like we understand what you mean by that ooh this is what you mean oh blah blah,” she said.

The Netherlands based musician said artists usually think outside the box when coming up with their art and they will not really know how the fans will react.

“When you are an artists you think outside the box so you don’t really know how people are going to react.

“Of course I am coming from a background where people are judgemental and they are critic but I said lets go and see what is going to happen and of course what happened, happened.

“But after that I started getting positive response but of course there is always that one person that will always come and say what you are doing is senseless and immoral.

“Zimbabweans have always been corrupt, we have always had a corrupted mind and it’s just that we never explore our corruption to see how far corrupt we are. We are talking about the corruption of the mind when it comes to dirty things and whatever,” she said.
