ZAMBIA’s leading scheduled airline Proflight has appointed Captain Josias Walubita as its new Chief pilot taking over from Captain Gerald Tembo, who has been promoted to the position of flight operations manager.
Walubita is one of Zambia’s youthful, experienced and professional commercial pilots.
Proflight chief executive officer Tony Irwin confirmed the appointment this week adding that they are confident that Walubita will take the airline to greater heights
“Congratulations to Josias Walubita, we are proud and confident that he will help take the airline to new heights. With our motto of maintaining safety, reliability, efficiency and providing a friendly service may we work together and give our new chief pilot your full support.
“The time seems right to mix some youth with experience in this position. Thank you to all the applicants. After careful consideration we decided to appoint Josias Walubita to this position with immediate effect,” he said.
Capt. Walubita is expected to work closely with the administration and flight operations manager to maintain and improve flight safety, crew training, flight dispatch, crew planning, and scheduling and operational control.
The latest appointment reinforces Proflight’s ethos of driving professionalism in the Zambian aviation industry and its policy of appointing Zambian nationals to key posts.

Proflight is a Zambian-owned airline which is operated by Zambian citizens and the airline employs more than 200 people including ground staff, pilots and cabin crew.
All Proflight staff undergo regular training. Pilots and cabin attendants receive annual training in compliance with ICAO Annexes.
Proflight domestic routes from its base in Lusaka include Livingstone, Mfuwe, Lower Zambezi, Kalabo, Ndola, Solwezi, Kasama, and Ndola-Kasama.
On the SADC region, Proflight flies to Lilongwe in Malawi, and Durban in South Africa and Harare in Zimbabwe.

The airline operates a 50-seater Bombardier CRJ-100 jet, three 29-seater Jetstream 41 aircraft and two C208 Caravans.
