TOURISMBusiness Council of Zimbabwe (TBCZ) says the recently launched Accoleisure travel guide mobile application has come to implement the enormous work of marketing destination Zimbabwe which the tourism sector has been doing.
The tourism industry together with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Ministry have been moving around countries both on thecontinent and outside attending travel shows in a bid to lure tourists to thecountry.
Tourism is one of the four pillars of economic revival that have been identified by the new dispensation with the ability toproduce quick results together with mining, manufacturing and agriculture.
However, for tourism to be successful it requires extensive marketing and visibility of the brand both physically and online, hence the various marketing strategies
Speaking at the launch of the mobile application, TBCZ newly elected president Winnie Muchanyuka said the industry’s job has been made easy.
“What a day it is for us in tourism and also as operators and service providers in the industry when such a facility is launched it makes our job easier as you see us from the tourism industry from Ministry to ZTA, to the TBCZ and all the sub-sectors that are under the tourism TBCZ.
“As we go from country to country and as we go from up and down trying to market the country we are all trying to achieve what is in that application (Accoleisure), we are all trying to be accessible we are trying to be visible and we are trying to make this destination competitive and as Mr (Givemore) Chidzidzi rightly put it this is what makes tourism accessible, visible and competitive and this we can achieve if the destination is indeed visible,” she said.
The TBCZ boss added that there is too much
“…if they (tourists) are looking for information onZimbabwe what is it that comes up so we are glad that Accoleisure has come up with this app that can put Zimbabwe on the map and allow the content that is on that app and vast array of information that you can have on the destination not only is it great for our foreign tourists who want to come to our country but also a great app for those of us who want to visit resorts within our country.
“You will be shocked at how many of us have never been to Great Zimbabwe or have been to the Eastern Highlands but now this informationis available to those of us in the country and can explore our country further,”she said.
Muchanyuka also took the opportunity to inviteAccoLeisure Private Limited to get in touch with her organisation to get moreinformation on operators and service providers in the tourism industry.“So we would like to congratulate Accoleisure on the launch of this app and implore that you come through to the TCBZ that you can have access to who the operators are in the industry and some of those companies and service providers that you could have as part of the app,” she said.
