The National Assembly has made considerable progress on the Tourism[H. B. 7, 2025] , which has now been referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee after it passed the Committee Stage with amendments.

The Parliamentary Legal Committee is responsible for checking if laws and policies do not clash with other existing laws, as well as the country’s constitution.

Speaking after the committee stage, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi applauded the legislators for the due diligence they put into the Bill.

‘’Thank you, Madam Speaker. I want to thank Hon. Members for due diligence that has been put to ensure that we come up with good legislation for the Tourism Industry. It is always very good to have an input that will improve our legislation. That is why we are all here, to ensure that we serve our nation,’’ he said.

Tourism is one of the key pillar of economic revival for the Second Republic together with mining and agriculture.

Zimbabwe’s tourism is slowly attaining the global appeal which saw the country being ranked number one on the Forbes Magazine’s list of must-visit destinations in 2025.

Earlier this year (2026), Zimbabwe also won the Destination of the Year – Natural Wonders award at the prestigeous ITB Berlin 2026 which is held in Germany.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Rwodzi was also named Tourism Minister of the Year – Africa 2025 by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association for her outstanding contribution to advancing tourism across the continent.

The tourism Bill is among the Bills that were mentioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa when he set the legislative agenda for the Third Session of the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe.

The passing of the Bill will go a long in helping the tourism sector to effectively put Zimbabwe on the global map as a safe tourists destination.
