Zimbabwe is banking on the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to help elevate and market its sport tourism product to the international world.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 will be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia, and the brand and host cities were unveiled recently in South Africa.
The Cricket World Cup is coming back to Africa for the first time since 2003, and Zimbabwe will use Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls for the tournament.
Writing on its X handle, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) said ‘’Zimbabwe will proudly welcome the world to Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, where the newly constructed Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium further strengthens the country’s world-class sporting infrastructure.
‘’Riding on the tournament theme, “Three Nations, One Heartbeat,” and the destination campaign “Make the Circle Bigger,” Zimbabwe is poised to leverage this global sporting spectacle to position itself as a premier Sports Tourism destination by showcasing its iconic attractions, rich cultural heritage, authentic Gastronomy and renowned hospitality to multitudes of cricket fans.
‘’Beyond the matches, the tournament presents a strategic opportunity to increase International Tourist arrivals, encourage longer stays, stimulate Tourism Investment and create lasting destination appeal, ensuring Tourists experience the very best of Zimbabwe on and beyond the cricket field.’’
