Rita Likukuma appointed acting ZTA chief executive

ENVIRONMENT, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira has appointed Rita Likukuma to the position of acting chief executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) with effect from 1 February 2019.

Likukuma who is a ZTA board member is tasked with among other things to drive the vision of the authority in line with that of country in the absence of Dr Karikoga Kaseke who is currently out on sick leave.

In a statement to the media, ZTA head of corporate affairs Godfrey Koti said Likukuma boasts of vast experience owing to her educational background and service to various boards.

“Likukuma brings in vast corporate governance experience having served on various Boards. She is the deputy chairperson of the current Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe board and non-executive director of PG Industries.

“Mrs Likukuma is also the current chairperson at Turnall Holdings Ltd and a director on the Morgan Company board, an international business consortium currently being set up in Zimbabwe.

“She was the chairperson of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe until January 2013. In June 2014, she was appointed to serve on CMED board. Likukuma served as the managing director at the Solar Division at Art Corporation and was a senior executive at Unilever,” said the statement.

In terms of education the new ZTA acting chief executive hold a Masters in Business Administration from the Oxford Brookes University and a Bachelor of Science Economics Degree at the University of Zimbabwe and has a Diploma in Electrical Installations from City and Guilds.

ZTA chief operating officer, Givemore Chidzidzi had been acting since November 2018 to date.
