The 15th edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Expo which is scheduled for the 13th to the 15th of October in Bulawayo will host a roundtable for SADC tourism ministers.
The issues to be discussed include tourism development and growth post the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tourism faces many challenges in the region, on the back of Covid-19 lockdowns and travel bans that almost crippled the sector.
Besides the viability issues, it is expected that the ministers will also speak on the one-border concept that has so far been implemented between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Speaking to journalists recently in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) chief executive Winnie Muchanyuka said the roundtable will another exciting addition to Sanganai/Hlanganani.
‘’Another exciting addition will be the SADC Ministers Tourism Roundtable.
‘’This will bring tourism ministers from the SADC region to deliberate on pertinent issues regarding tourism development and growth post covid pandemic,’’ she said.
Meanwhile, ZTA which organizes the event is optimistic that it will reach its target of about 250 exhibitors.
Another exciting thing to look out for is the Tourism Innovation Hub, which is an initiative aimed at supporting youth and exposing their ideas to the global community. This year Sanganai/Hlanganani will be held physically following the relaxation of Covid-19 protocols by the government.
