Dubai, Zimbabwe in civil servants incentive travel deal

Zimbabwe stand at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai where it entered into a civil service incentive travel deal

DUBAI Civil Service Office has met with Zimbabwe over an incentive travel proposal for its civil servants.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual Arabian Travel Market (ATM) which is arguably the largest travel show in the Middle East.

The deal is said to have been necessitated by the proposal from Zimbabwe and its good destination showing at the ATM fair.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority head of corporate affairs Godfrey Koti is among the Zimbabwean delegation in Dubai confirmed the development.

“Team Zimbabwe has just wrapped up an exciting meeting with the Dubai Civil Service Office. The meeting was based on an incentive travel proposal for Dubai civil servants to get travel packages to Zimbabwe as part of their official government paid holidays.

“This happened on the sidelines of the on-going ATM in Dubai and today is the last day of the Middle East’s largest travel show.

“Zimbabwe made quite an impression generally with destination management companies and travel agencies flocking to their stand,” he said.

Zimbabwe has been working flat-out in a bid to increase the number of arrivals into the country and its efforts appear to be yielding exciting results.

Already a deal with Touch Road International Holdings is set to bring about 350 Chinese tourists to the country every month and this Dubai deal might bring more.

Tourism is one of the key pillars of economic revival strategy in Zimbabwe together with agriculture and mining. And tourism is also the new dispensation’s low hanging fruit with quick results if adequately supported through legislation and investment incentives such as Special Economic Zones.-
